Rosella Lavina Wortman, 93, of Red Oak, died at Montgomery County Memorial Hospital in Red Oak. Funeral services were held April 11 at Strahan United Methodist Church in Hastings, Pastor David Kim, presided. Burial was at the South Grove Cemetery. Mansfield-Hertz Funeral home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Wortman was born one of 10 children to Cora Ellen (Miner) and Andrew Jackson Livengood, near Pacific Junction on Feb. 8, 1912. On May 17, 1932, Mrs. Wortman married Reed Merritt Wortman in Maryville, Mo. To this union five children were blessed. She loved her role of housewife and mother. She and Reed were married 23 years at the time of his death in 1954. She provided her children with a safe and secure home and made it possible for each to stay in school and earn a high school diploma. Mrs. Wortman later moved to Strahan where she enjoyed mowing the lawn and taking care of her flowers and garden. She also enjoyed her family, cooking and preparing family dinners.

Mrs. Wortman was preceded in death by her parents; husband Reed; and daughter Joan Wortman Larson; sister Cora Nuss; brothers Joe Livengood, Bill Livengood, George Livengood, Andy Livengood, Fred Livengood, Sidney Livengood, Ross Livengood and Elmer Livengood. She is survived by her children Merritt Wortman and his wife Pat of Hastings, Louise Hines and her husband Carl of Denver, Beverly Gammon and her husband Marland of Glenwood, and Roger Wortman and his wife Carol of Shannon City, Iowa; 13 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
