February 2, 2005Hazel Irene Cowan, 81, of Glenwood, died Jan. 25, 2005, in Council Bluffs. Graveside services were held Jan. 28 at the Glenwood Cemetery. Rev. Doug Achiterhof officiated the services.
Mrs. Cowan was the daughter of George Edward and Bertha Irene (Forrel) Norris, born April 14, 1923, in Clarinda. She was united in marriage to Robert Franklin Cowan on Nov. 1, 1940, in Rockport, Mo. To this union two children were born. Mrs. Cowan was employed with the Glenwood Resource Center for over 25 years. She was of the Methodist faith. Some of her hobbies included crocheting, reading and working on crossword puzzles, and she was also a great animal lover. She especially enjoyed times spent with her family.
Mrs. Cowan was preceded in death by her parents, husband and sister Ethel Lawson. She is survived by children Joyce Marcene Tinnell of Omaha, Neb., and Robert F. Cowan Jr. of Glenwood; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sister Maxine Higgins of Clarinda; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
Memorials are suggested to the Humane Society. Peterson Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
