Death of Mrs.Show

It is our sad duty to chronicle the death of Mrs. Lydia Show, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Berkheimer, (living just north of town) who died at her Nebraska home. Mrs. Show was born and grew to women's estate in this county, where scores of hearts are now in sorrow at her early demise. She was possessed of a beautiful christian character which endeared her to her associates and made her a general favorite in the circles in which she moved. She and her husband, Mr. Samuel Show, were members of the Centerline Sunday-school for many years, and when the sad news was announced in the school a week ago last Sunday that Mrs. Show was then at the point of death and could not recover, a deep cloud of sorrow settled over those present which as not dispelled during the entire session. She was most loved where best known.
This is a crushing sorrow to the husband and parents who have the truest sympathy of the community, which mourns with them. The following obituary was prepared by a friend of the deceased:
Lydia Ann Berkheimer was born at Malvern, Mills County, Iowa, October 16, 1884. She was converted at a meeting of the First Baptist Church, of Malvern, about nine years ago. She was married to Samuel Lewis Show, at Malvern, the 19th day of March, 1885. She removed with her husband to Custer County, Nebraska in the spring of 1887. She fell asleep in Jesus March 7, 1888, being 23 years, 5 months and 21 days old. There being no Baptist Church near her home in Nebraska, she with her husband united with the M.E. Church, in which connection she remained until her death.
From the birth of their babe, Feb. 17, 1888, she felt the good lord was calling her home, and March 3 she asked to see her parents. They reached her home March 5. After she had seen their loving faces she felt she was ready to depart to be with God. She asked that they take good care of her dear little boy, and train him up to love Jesus, and when he became a man she asked them to tell him that his mother prayed for him in heaven. She asked father, mother, sisters and brothers to meet her in heaven. She asked the added request that her brothers Oscar and George give their hearts to Jesus and meet her in heaven. She desired to be laid to rest at her old home and selected hymns to be sung at her funeral. Peacefully she entered into rest, having had all the attention physicians and kind and loving friends could give.
The funeral occurred from the Malvern Baptist Church last Saturday at noon. Rev. J.S. McCormick conducting the service.
