Obituary: Mrs. Irena Jarred
Irena Elizabeth Jarred, daughter of Sarah and James Salmons, was born July 27,1863, at Emerson, Ia. She died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Hattie McVay of Augusta, Kan., April 1, 1954, at the age of 90 years, nine months and four days. She was united in marriage to John Jarred in April 1884 at Emerson, Iowa. Nine children were born to this union. She with her husband and family moved from Iowa to Miami county, Kan., where they resided for a number of years. Later coming to Oklahoma in the spring of 1901, settling on a farm nine miles north of Alva in the Fritzlen community. In the fall of this year, Sept.6,1901, she suffered the loss of her husband by lighting. Interment in Alva Municipal Cemetery, Alva, Oklahoma.
