February 23, 2005Billy Joe Thompson, 51, of Tabor, died Feb. 14, 2005, at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Neb., following an extended illness. Funeral services were held Feb. 18 at the Crawford-Marshall Funeral Chapel in Tabor. Rev. Rod VanWey officiated the services. Interment was at the Fairview Cemetery near Tabor.
Mr. Thompson was the son of Everett and Alberta C. (Yocham) Thompson, born Dec. 19, 1953, in West Plains, Mo. On June 4, 1993, he was married to Corinne Millikan in Sharpsburg. He worked as a drug counselor at Mercy Center in Omaha for a time before going into independent practice in Council Bluffs and Glenwood, where he started NA in 1998.
Mr. Thompson was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Everett (Snook) Thompson and Jerry Dean Thompson. He is survived by wife Corinne Thompson of Tabor; children Jennifer Joe Thompson of Kansas City, Mo.. Billy Joe (Toby) Thompson Jr. of Cameron, Mo., Jera Thompson of Tabor, Jenny Lincoln of Omaha, Jamie Cramer and husband Eric of Pacific Junction and Jimmy L. Strutten of Council Bluffs; grandchildren Tyler, Nikki, Danny, Charlee, Kelsey, Cheyanne, Haley, Samantha, Jessica, Harley, Josh, Amanda, Jimmy Strutten Jr., Christy Kay Andrade and Anna Andrade; sister Nancy Counts and husband Jerry of West Plains; brothers Leck Thompson and wife Sharon of Granite City, Ill., and Charlie Thompson of Leavenworth, Kan.; numerous nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
Memorials will go to the purchase of a cemetery marker. The Crawford-Marshall Funeral Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
