February 23. 2005William “Bill” Louis Kite, 56, of Pacific Junction, died Feb. 16, 2005, at Jennie Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluffs.
Funeral services were held Feb. 19 at the Peterson Mortuary in Glenwood. Pastor Darrell Hopp officiated the services. Burial was at the Glenwood Cemetery.
Mr. Kite was the son of Otis Neal and Darlene Helen (Fisher) Kite, born April 17, 1948, in Pacific Junction. After his parents were divorced and at the age of 8, he lived with his Uncle Joe and Aunt Lottie Matteson in Pacific Junction, where he lived the rest of his life. He married Debra Raymond, and two sons were born to this marriage. He married Marilyn Sue Williams on April 4, 1976, at the Strahan Methodist Church. Mr. Kite attended high school in Pacific Junction until the 10th grade. He started to work at a very early age. His first job was with Farmers Coop, then he worked for the Iowa State Highway Commission then Shady Tree Service for 12 years. He then worked 20 years for Glen Haven Nursing Home as a maintenance supervisor and his last job until he became disabled was with On With Life. He had a love for people and enjoyed working with them. He enjoyod going hunting, fishing, playing his guitar and being around friends. He had an avid interest in computers, writing poetry, family genealogy and going to visit relatives. He won several awards on his poetry and created his own Web site on the Internet.
Mr. Kite was preceded in death by his parents, grandchild Kitana Lynn, his aunt and uncle that raised him, nephew Tony Kite and stepbrother Scott Barker. He is survived by wife Marilyn of Pacific Junction; sons Matthew and Donovan of Wisconsin; grandson Konner Justin Lynn of Wisconsin: brothers Gene Kite and wife Sheryl of Buffalo, Mo., and Kenneth Neal Kite and wife Charlotte of Creighton, Mo.; brother-in-law Allen Williams of Hastings; uncle Denzil Kite of St. Joe, Mo.; aunt Lucille McElfish of Waco, Texas; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and a host of friends.
A memorial fund has been established. Peterson Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
