Joel Painter, a pioneer resident of Glenwood, died Saturday at the home of his daughter in Omaha, aged 77 years and past.

The remains were brought to Glenwood for burial on Sunday, short services being held at the cemetery following the arrival of the 11 o'clock train, Rev. G.T. Goodell had charge of the services.

The deceased was born Dec. 1, 1833, in Licking County, Ohio. He was married to Mary Burchard July 11, 1860, and she with four children survive him. He had resided in Glenwood since but for several years past he and his wife had made their home with their children at various points. The children are: Sam Painter, Hastings, Neb., Wm. Painter, Yelton, Oka., Mrs. Ira Bawman, Omaha, Neb., Mrs. A. S. Edwards, Glenwood, Ia.
