Dixie Celeste Burdic, 89, of Fresno, Calif., formerly of Malvern, died Dec. 27, 2004, at her home. Funeral services were held Jan. 3, 2005, at the Mansfield-Hertz Funeral Home in Malvern. Pastor David Kim and Pastor Gordon Scott officiated the services, Interment was at the Malvern Cemetery.

Mrs. Burdic was the daughter of Park and Ruby (Iddings) Karns, born Jan. 6, 1915, in Knoxville. The family moved to Omaha, Neb., in l933, where she graduated from North High School that same year. She attended the University of Omaha and accepted a position with the telephone company. She married Milton Gooldy in 1941. They continued to live in Omaha and were blessed by the birth of a daughter, Kathleen. Mr. Gooldy died as a result of wounds received during the Battle of the Bulge. She married Eugene W. Burdic in Omaha on Aug. 1, 1951. They made their home in Malvern, where Mr. Burdic was president of the Malvern Trust and Savings Bank. He adopted Kathleen, and Mrs. Burdic became a stepmother to his children, Allan and Mary.

Mrs. Burdic enjoyed cooking and was an avid Nebraska Cornhusker fan. She was a member of the Malvern United Methodist Church and belonged to several Bridge clubs. Mr. and Mrs. Burdic had been married for nearly 30 years when Mr. Burdic died in 1980. She continued to live in Malvern until moving to Fresno in 1998.

Mrs. Burdic was preceded in death by her parents, husbands and stepdaughter Mary Kratville. She is survived by daughter Kathleen Gregory and husband Woody of Fresno; stepson Allan Burdic and wife Marilyn of Malvern; grandchildren George Goshgarian. and Jeannie Goshgarian; step-grandchildren Michael Kratville, Catherine Kratville, Susie Johnson and Jay Burdic; four step-great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

Mansfield-Hertz Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
