Esther Caroline Davis, 85, of Rando1ph, died Nov. 23, 2004, at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital in Red Oak.

Graveside funeral services were held Nov.28 at the Malvern Cemetery. Rev. Michael Stevens officiated the services.

Mrs. Davis was the daughter of John and Carrie F. (Wurtele) Bohlen, born Feb. 23, 1919, on her parent’s farm near Nebraska City, Neb. She attended country school near Nebraska City until the fifth grade, when the family moved to Percival. She continued attending country school near Percival through the eighth grade. Following school, she lived on her parent’s farm and did house work for other area families. She married Kenneth William Davis on Sept. 12, 1939, in Sidney. They made their first home in Percival and were blessed with their first son. The family later moved to a farm near Randolph and grew larger with the birth of two more sons. Mrs. Davis enjoyed her role as a mother and farmer’s wife. She liked to design rooms and homes and drew the plans for the family’s house in Randolph. She was a member of the Friendly Neighbors Club and the Strahan United Methodist Church and was responsible for naming the Strahan community newsletter, The Strahan-O-Gram. She was a hard worker and good mother who lived a hard life. Mr. and Mrs. Davis had been married 59 years when Mr. Davis died on Dec. 23. 1998. Mrs. Davis continned to live in her home after his death.

Mrs. Davis was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Ernest Bohlen, Arnold Bohlen and Oscar Bohlen; and infant granddaughter, Tracy Davis. She is survived hy sons Gary Davis and wife Barbara of Oak Grove, Mo., Roger Davis and wife Connie of Shenandoah and Dennis Davis and wife Anne of Randolph; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sisters Elsie Moyer of Percival and Gladys Davis and husband Roy of Imogene; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
