Hastings, January 26: Another of the pioneers and well known residents of this vicinity passed away the past week in the person of Andrew L. Wearin who died at his old home north of Hastings, Saturday January 23, 1915, after a long period of ill health.
Mr. Wearin was probably one of the best known of the older residents of this section having lived here since the early fifties and taken part in the development of the country from its earliest history to the present time Coming here with his young wife in 1858 they knew what real pioneering meant and what it takes in privation, watchful economy and hard grinding labor to develop a country in the real pioneer days. Not every one was capable of staying with a job of that tort and our present day civilization and comfort owes much to these pioneers who had the ability and the strength of character to stay. He was a man who enjoyed having his friends around and was always very hospitable in his home. He was thrifty and energetic and although coming to this country with little capital he amassed a comfortable fortune before it came time for him to lay aside his work for a well earned rest time.
The funeral services were held on Monday afternoon at one o'clock from the Methodist church in Hastings and were conducted by the pastor Rev. M. A. Gable. The remains were laid to rest beside the wife in the Hastings cemetery.
The following is the obituary as read:

Later he sold this land and returned to Indiana where April 19, 1857 he was married to Miss Eunice Cook and the next year they moved to Iowa again and he again purchased and in this vicinity and has ever since made this his home.
