Mrs. Andrew Wearin was born in Chautauqua County, New York, March 21, 1887, and was at the time of her death, which occurred at her home three and one-half miles northeast of Hastings, Sept. 5, 1889, aged 52 years, 5 mouths and 14 days. She lived with her father in New York until she was in her sixteenth year, when they removed to Indiana, where she lived with her father until his death. At the age of 21 she was married to Andrew Wearin, at Valparaiso, Ind., and with her husband left Indiana in the year 1859 and moved to Mills County, where she resided with her husband until her death.
For the last two years of her life she was a great sufferer, yet she was patient in her sufferings, knowing from whence they came and that her reward was promised and sure. Dying of dropsy she lingered all day, only rousing up when she heard footsteps in the room. She roused up just as the sun went down and told her husband, children and friends that she was dying, but she was not afraid to go because she had faith in God and she was nearer Him every minute. While she was bidding them good bye she told them not to cry because it excited her, and she would be better off over there with her Master.
She was the mother of six children, one being called away while a mere infant. She leaves a husband and five children to mourn the loss of guiding hand. They all hope to meet her in heaven.
The remains of a noble wife and mother were laid to rest in the Hastings cemetery, on Saturday, Sept. 7, Rev. S. S. McCormick, of the Baptist Church, conducting the services.
