Thelma Pearle Hatfield, 88, of Colorado Springs, Colo., died Aug. 18, 2004, at the Pikes Peak Hospice in Colorado Springs. A memorial service and celebration of life were held at the Swan-Law Funeral Chapel in Colorado Springs on Aug. 20, 2004. Local family and friends gathered at Mansfield-Hertz Funeral Home in Malvern on Aug. 24, 2004, to celebrate her life. Burial was at the Malvern Cemetery.

Mrs. Hatfield was the daughter of Alfred and Mae Scott, born June 3, 1916, on her parents’ homestead near Ingemar, Mont. As a youth, she lived on a farm near Hastings and graduated from Hastings High School. On Nov. 10, 1934, she married Art Hatfield in Rock Port, Mo. Two years later they left the Midwest to make their home in Colorado. Mrs. Hatfield’s homemaking skills were equaled by her talents as an artist. She left a legacy on canvas and other media of her talent, which she freely shared with her friends, family and church community. She enjoyed traveling, camping, family, hospital volunteer work and her many activities as a member of the Church of Christ. Most recently, she was a member of Mountain View Church of Christ in Colorado Springs.

Mrs. Hatfield is survived by her husband Art, sister Irene Parker of Red Oak, brothers Carl Scott of Red Oak and Kenneth Scott of Malvern and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Mansfield-Hertz Funeral Home was in charge of local arrangements.
