Victorene (Vicky) Holden, 85, of Missouri Valley, formerly of Malvern, died May 28, 2001 at Jennie Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluffs. Funeral services were June 1, 2001 at the Malvern Methodist Church with burial in the Malvern Cemetery. Rev. Fred Pilecki officiated the services.

Mrs. Holden was the daughter of James Lafayette and Estel (Smotherman) Webb, born October 16, 1915 on a farm near Congo, Mo. She graduated from Birch Tree High School in 1934 and continued to live in the Congo area. She was married to Othel Ledford Holden in April, 1935. After their marriage they made their home in the Strahan area. After his death as a result of an auto accident in 1945 she and the children moved to Teresita, Mo. for two years and then returned to Malvern where she worked at Pace Hardware. In 1952, she began working at the Malvern Trust & Savings Bank and continued for 37 years until retiring in 1989. Due to failing health, she moved to Council Bluffs to live with her daughter in 1997; they later moved to Missouri Valley. She was a member of the Malvern Methodist Church and BPW. She enjoyed sewing clothes for her grandchildren and she loved flowers.

She was preceded in death by her parents; infant sister, Lorene Webb; infant brother, James Webb; brother Dorris Webb; husband; and son, Donald.

Survivors include her daughter, Jeanie Staben and husband Gene of Missouri Valley; daughter-in-law, Julie Musseman of Hawaii; five grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; sister, Vera Ovene of Belleville, Ill.; four step- grandchildren and twelve step-great-grandchildren; brothers, James Webb and Roger Webb of Springfield, Mo.; and nieces and nephews.

Mansfield-Hertz Funeral Home of Malvern was in charge of arrangements.
