Marlene L. Gordon, 64, Ruthven

Marlene Levonna Gordon, 64, of Ruthven, died January 24, 2003, at the Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City. Funeral services were held January 27, 2003, at the Mansfield-Hertz Funeral Home in Malvern. Pastor Mel Smith officiated in the service. Burial was at the Malvern Cemetery.

Mrs. Gordon was the daughter of Ora Louis and Catherine Laura (Rubenking) Campbell, born February 15, 1938, in Malvern. The family moved to a farm north of Tabor, and she attended Tabor High School. She moved to Indiana to work as a nanny and met Frank Albert Gray. They were married in Anderson, Indiana, and their marriage was blessed with son Terry. She married Earl David Gordon of Anderson, Indiana, and continued to live in the area where Mr. Gordon worked for a moving van company. While in Indiana, this marriage was blessed with daughters Pam and Marlene. Mr. and Mrs. Gordon later moved to Malvern and were blessed with sons Earl, Rick, Monty and Orrie and daughter Brenda. Mrs. Gordon loved caring for her family and loved to quilt and embroider. In the early 1970s, she suffered an aneurysm resulting in a disabling stroke. She moved to Red Oak to live with Brenda's family and then in 1996 moved to Ruthven to be with Monty and Earl.

Mrs. Gordon was preceded in death by her father; brother Larry Campbell; husband Earl Gordon; and great-grandson Joshua Mark Hammers. She is survived by her mother, Catherine Campbell of Malvern; children Terry Gray and companion Billie Greenhaw of Springfield, Missouri, Marlene "Aggie" Thompson and husband Dean of Edmond, Oklahoma, Pam Winchel and companion Ken Manning of Springfield, Earl Gordon of Ruthven, Rich Gordon and companion Laurie Gray of Malvern, Monty Gordon of Ruthven, Brenda Ballinger and husband Ron Jr., of Red Oak, and Orrie Gordon and companion Tonya Frame of Shenandoah; 17 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Mansfield-Hertz Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
