Barlett, Iowa- (Special Correspondence)- After intense suffering for many months, Mrs Hiram Fitch passed away at her home Wednesday, July 9th. She was born in Ohio, May 4th, 1848, and was a little past 82 at the time of her death. She was united in marriage to Hiram Fitch in 1865.
She was the mother of four children, Elonzo, with whom she lived, Mrs. Rachal Keernes of Plattsmouth, Neb; Mrs James Hadden, of Glenwood and Mrs. George Moore, who preceded her in death years ago. She also had 12 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren. Five sisters also mourn her death. Mrs. George Reafleng, Mrs James Glenn, Mrs Rachel Wilson, all of this locality: Mrs McDowell of Vermillion, S.D. and Mrs. Guthrie of Kearney, Neb.
Mr and Mrs Fitch came to Mills county from Illinois about 60 years ago, and were pioneers of this locality. She was always of a cheerful disposition, even though her suffering was almost unbearable and was almost helpless for two years.
Funeral services were held at the home Thursday afternoon conducted by the Rev. Charles Allken of Bartlett. Music was furnished by Mrs. Boyd McCrary, Mrs Frank Vet, Gladys and Louise Buckinghom. Burial was in the Waubonsie cemetery, by the side of Mr. Fitch, who died several years ago.
