FOUND DEAD. Will Hubbell, Living South of Glenwood Meets With a Strange End. - - One of the saddest accidental deaths of the many that have been afflicting Mills county of late was that which took away Will Hubbell last week. Mr. Hubbell has been living on the Henry Fairlee place south of town for the past year, he buying the place about a year ago. Thursday last he went into the timber on the Williams place nearby to haul up a load. It was the last seen of him alive. His wife grew anxious when he failed to return at night, but thought he had made a trip to Glenwood and was detained by accident. Or that he had gone to Asa Lambert's, where he'd agreed to help gather corn Friday. A little son had left his father as he was completing his load Thursday. Friday morning the eldest boy went to Lambert's; and not finding his father, returned by way of the timber. He saw through the trees the horses in a strangely wild looking condition. Filled with dread and a premonition of disaster the child ran to his mother at the home only a quarter of a mile away. J.R. Hubbell of the Hudson house, Glenwood, and a second cousin of Will, happened along with a friend. They found the household in a state of fright. They started for the timber, two neighbors preceding them a short distance. The dead body of the missing man was found lying beneath a load of wood which had toppled over upon him. The team was hitched to the hind end of the wagon. The wood had been piled on a wagon box. He had evidently got stalled going up hill. In pulling back, the load fell upon him. His face had made a deep dent in the earth and his arms were spread and hands partly clutched as is customary with one when falling.

Mr. Hubbell was born 1866, and was married 14 years ago to Miss McDole. Eight children are left with the mother to mourn a father's care. The funeral was held at the Waubonsie church Sunday and was largely attended. Mrs. Hubbell, the mother of the unfortunate man, was called from her home at Rapid City, South Dakota. Her husband, father of the deceased, was killed while lumbering in South Dakota a few years ago.
