Glenwood Opinion September 25, 1902

Mrs. Kate Meadows one of the very best known of Mills county women died at her home north of Glenwood, Monday. The news of her death came as a shock to her many friends who had so long known her as a leader in righteousness and uplifting endeavor that make a community strong for good. The funeral was held Wednesday morning, a large concourse of friends following the remains to the West Liberty cemetery.

Katherine Price Buffington was born June 6, 1833, in Meigs County, Ohio. In 1835, with her parents, she moved to Adams County, IL. In 1854 the family moved to Iowa. At the age of sixteen she united with the Baptist church and in 1866 was transferred to the M E church of which she remained a faithful member until her death. October 18, 1866 she was married to Samuel P. Meadows who died October 2, 1884.

She was a regular attendant at all services of the church and for more than twenty-five years a teacher in the Sunday school. September 22, 1902, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Rowe, the summons found her ready to join the church triumphant.

She leaves two daughters, three sisters, three brothers and five grandchildren. The hearts of those who surrounded her remains bore witness to her faithful revelations of the Master's spirit.

A Coincidence: The death of both Mrs. Sivers and Mrs. Meadows the same day caused much comment. They were both prominent in affairs in the community for many years, and both died the same day, and both were laid to rest In the beautiful cemetery at West Liberty.
