Shirley M. O’Rourke, 72, formerly of Silver City, died September 30, 2001 at Alegent Health Mercy Hospital.

Funeral mass will be today, October 3, 2001, 11:00 a.m., at Holy Rosary Church in Glenwood with burial in the Glenwood Cemetery.

Mrs. O’Rourke was the daughter of Richard and Florence (Kenney) Pace, born April 5, 1929 in Council Bluffs. She graduated from St. Francis High School in 1947. She was united in marriage to Donald O’Rourke on August 30, 1950 in Council Bluffs. She worked for Northwestern Bell from 1947 until 1950 as a telephone operator. She is a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Glenwood, was past president of the Altar and Rosary Society, served on many other church committees. She was also a homemaker and farmed with her husband.

Survivors include her husband; sons, John and wife Wendy O’Rourke of St. Louis, Mo., Larry and wife Nancy O’Rourke of Glenwood, and Terry and wife Jana O’Rourke of Goldsboro, N.C.; seven grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Pat Shea and husband Don, Rita Gubbels and husband Jerry, all of Council Bluffs, Irene Green of Harlan, Sr. Jean O’Rourke, RSM of Omaha; brother-in-law, Rev. Charles O’Rourke of Los Feliz, Calif.

Belford-O-Neill Funeral Home of Council Bluffs is in charge of arrangements.
