Malcom Dwight Madison, 82, of Tabor, died May 21, 2004, at the Tabor Manor Care Center.

Funeral services were held May 24, 2004, at the Crawford-Marshall Funeral Chapel in Tabor. Rev. Tom Clark officiated the services. Interment was at the Tabor Cemetery.

Mr. Madison was the son of Brick Hall and Mildred (Johnson) Madison, born March 19, 1922, in Malvern. His family moved to Gordon, Neb., in 1925 and Parker, S.D., in 1934 and returned to Randolph in 1938. In November 1939, he married Cordie Rickabaugh. To this union one son was born. Mr. Madison entered the Army in January 1943. He took his basic training (Quarter Master Division) in Cheyenne, Wyo., and was transferred to Hawaii. He was injured and hospitalized in Okinawa, Japan. He returned to the Army Hospital in Clinton and was discharged on Nov. 19, 1945. He farmed and was also a mechanic for Nelson Bros. in Tabor for 20 years. He drove trucks until he retired. Later, he worked at the Ameristar Casino for four years until his health declined. He was a charter life member of the DAV and VFW and a former member of the Tabor Volunteer Fire Department.

Mr. Madison was preceded in death by his parents, son Leroy Madison, sister Lois Faye Madison and brothers Paul and Bud Madison. He is survived by his wife, Cordie Madison of Tabor; sister Delpha McCoy of Pacific Junction; brother James M. Madison of Glenwood; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.

Memorials are suggested to the labor Rescue Squad or the Tabor Volunteer Fire Department.

The Crawford-Marshall Funeral Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
