William R. Jackson, Sr., 70, died May 26, 2004, at his home in Glenwood. Funeral services will be held at a later date.

Mr. Jackson was born June 2, 1933, in Glenwood to Benjamin Buffington and Lena Pearl (Atteberry) Jackson. He graduated from Glenwood Community High School in 1951 and then served in the U.S. Navy from 1952 to 1956. He returned to Glenwood and was self-employed in the tree-trimming service. He also served as a member of the Glenwood Volunteer Fire Department.

Mr. Jackson was preceded in death by his parents and brother Edward Jackson. He is survived by daughters Annette Jackson of Lincoln, Neb., Valerie Sowyers of West Hills, Calif., and Linda Jackson of Flagstaff, Ariz.; sons William R. Jackson, Jr. of Glenwood and Benjamin R. Jackson of Kosciusko, Miss.; eight grandchildren, one great-grandson; sister-in-law Donna Jackson of Glenwood; niece Dawn Jackson of Glenwood; nephew Lance Jackson of Glenwood; and an uncle, Max Jackson and wife Edna of Lincoln, Neb.
