Monica Kay (Williams) Shannon, 29, of Dayton, Ohio, formerly of Glenwood died July 23, 2001 at Hospice of Dayton. Funeral services were July 28, 2001 at Grace United Methodist Church with burial in the Malvern Cemetery.

Pastor Tim Bohlma officiated the services.

Mrs. Shannon was the daughter of Terry L. Williams and Maletta (Parks) Moddelmog, born January 6, 1972 in Council Bluffs. She was a 1990 graduate of Glenwood High School and a 1995 graduate of UNI where she was president of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority and a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Glenwood. She attended Lord of Life Lutheran Church in Dayton.

She was married to Donald G. Shannon on March 27, 1998 in Okinawa, Japan. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents.

Survivors include her husband; daughter, Sydney L. Shannon of Dayton; parents, Terry L. Williams of Omaha, Neb. and Maletta (Parks) Moddelmog of Mulvane, Kan.; brother, Kyle Williams of Neola; grandparents, Robert and Dorothy Williams of Glenwood; aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s, Memphis, TN 38105. Peterson Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
