Velora Barbour, 82, of Glenwood died August 24, 2001 at Jennie Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluffs following a brief illness. Funeral services were August 27, 2001 at Crawford-Marshall Funeral Chapel in Tabor with burial in the Tabor Cemetery. Rev. Gerald McGee officiated the services.
Mrs. Velora was the daughter of Frank H. Field and Anna E. (Garrett) Field, born September 7, 1918 in Council Bluffs. She attended rural schools in Iowa and was married May 22, 1937 to John Nix Barbour in Glenwood. She was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church in Glenwood, the Pythian Sisters, and the American Legion Auxiliary. She worked as a baker at the Ft. Lewis Army Hospital in Spokane, Wash. during World War II, and most recently at the Glenwood State Hospital-School.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two brothers; and five sisters.

Survivors include her daughters, Anna P. Haverty and husband Dale of Nebraska City Neb and Tamara Uloth and husband Paul of Brooklyn Park, Minn.; sons, John F. Barbour and wife Lorna of Glenwood, Steven Barbour of Nebraska City, Neb., and Eric Bárbour of Omaha, Neb.; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; brother, Charles 0. Field of Idaho; numerous nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends.

Crawford-Marshall Funeral Chapel of Sidney was in charge of arrangements.
