Jerry L. Westlake, 58, of Council Bluffs, died Feb. 22, 2003, at the Jennie Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluffs. Funeral services were held Feb. 25, 2003, at the Peterson Mortuary in Glenwood. Rev. Marvin Arnpriester officiated at the service. Burial was at the Glenwood Cemetery.
Mr. Westlake was the son of Harry Fay and Ices Irene (Moss) Westlake, born April 28, 1944, in Nampa, Idaho. He grew up in Nebraska and then moved to Alaska. He lived there 10 years before moving to Virginia for two years and then to Council Bluffs in 1989. He was a Vietnam veteran and served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1961-69. He served on the Kitty Hawk. He was employed with Offutt Air Force Base as an energy management controller. He married Mary Kay Skanadore on April 12, 1974, in Batesland, S.D.
Mr. Westlake was preceded in death by his parents; brother Jack; sisters Alene, Elaine and Mildred; and an infant daughter. He is survived by wife Mary Westlake of Council Bluffs; sons Michael L. Westlake and Travis N. Westlake of Council Bluffs and Scott Westlake of Massachusetts; sisters Joan Ayers of Nampa, Idaho, Gloria Fox of New Castle, Wyo., Shirley Mason of Washington Court House, Ohio, and Kay Marts of Glenwood; brother Tom Westlake of Texas; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
A memorial fund has been established. Peterson Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
