Darrell Edward Taylor, 66, of Lincoln, Neb., died Feb. 17, 2003, at his home. Funeral services were held Feb. 21, 2003, at the Mansfield-Hertz Funeral Home in Malvern. Pastor Lynn Zimmerman officiated at the service. Interment was at the Farm Creek Cemetery in Henderson.

Mr. Taylor was the son of John Edward and Darlene Hope (Edmondson) Taylor. born May 14, 1936, in Henderson. He grew up in the Hastings area and graduated from Hastings High School in 1954. After graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served at Fort Lewis, Wash., until 1956. For the next two years, he drove a fruit delivery truck for Sno-Boy in Omaha. In 1958, he re-enlisted in the Army, became a paratrooper, and was stationed at Fort Devens, Mass. On Sept. 14, 1959, he married Darlene Marie Judah in Malvern. In 1961, following his discharge from the service, they returned to Hastings and Mr. Taylor began his lifelong career as an over-the-road truck driver. Their marriage was blessed with two sons, Danny Paul and Jimmie Jon. They had been married for 29 years when Mrs. Taylor died suddenly on March 8, 1989. On July 7, 1990, Mr. Taylor married Nancy Ann (Madsen) Brotherson in Hamlin, and they made their home in Lincoln. He continued his truck-driving career. He was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in September 2002.

Mr. Taylor was preceded in death by his parents and first wife Darlene. He is survived by wife Nancy of Lincoln; sons Danny Taylor and wife Tracy and Jimmie Taylor, all of Malvern; step-sons Michael Brotherson and wife Charlotte of Panama, Neb., and James Brotherson and wife Kern of Paducah, Ky.; seven grandchildren; brothers Paul Taylor and wife Lana of Hastings and Dan Taylor and wife Mickey of Broken Arrow, Okla.; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.

Mansfield-Hertz Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
