Earl E. Hawker, 85, of Mesa, Ariz., died July 22, 2002, in Mesa. A graveside service will be held April 26, 2003, 5 p.m., at the Glenwood Cemetery. Rev. Richard T. Wheatley will officiate the service.
Mr. Hawker was the son of Samuel and Merle Hawker, born April 29, 1917, in Pacific Junction. He graduated from Glenwood High School in 1935. He was employed in Chicago, Ill., at Woolworth’s until he enlisted in the U.S. Marines and served during WWII and then in the National Guard. He was employed at Wisconsin Power and Light as an electric line crew superintendent for over 35 years in Janesville, Wis. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge. He married Janella Howard on May 17, 1942, in Monticello, Calif.
Mr. Hawker was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Janella Hawker of Mesa; sons Dennis Hawker of Mesa and Keno Hawker, mayor of Mesa; four grandchildren; one great-grandson; and sister June Johnson of Darian, Calif.
Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Association. Peterson Mortuary in Glenwood was in charge of arrangements.
