Mrs. Sarah Barbee died at her residence in Glenwood, Tuesday morning at 4:30 o’clock after a short illness. The deceased was an old time resident of Mills County, coming here in an early day. The following brief sketch of her life was furnished us by a member of the family: Mrs. Sarah Barbee was born in Bartholomew County, Indiana, June 3rd, 1816. On Dec. 19, 1833 she was married at Columbus, Ind. Eleven children were born of whom nine survive. The names and addresses of these are as follows: Mrs. Jane Simpion, Hawthorne, Iowa; Mr. Daniel Barbee, Glenwood, Iowa; Mrs. Sarah Fall, Kansas City, Mo.; Mrs. Carrie Hills, Council Bluffs, Iowa; Mrs. Nancy Chambers, Armour, Iowa; Mr. Horace Barbee, Olympia, Wash.; Mr. Wesley Barbee, Hillsdale, Iowa.: Mr. Henry Barbee, Marquette, Wyo.; Mrs. Alice McKenzie, Shawnee, Okla. Ever since 1839, Mrs. Barbee has been a faithful member of the Methodist church. The funeral services will be conducted by Rev. G.W. Fiddler. Short funeral services will be held at the late residence of the deceased in Glenwood on corner of Walnut and Fourth streets, Friday, March 15th at ten o’clock. Regular funeral sermon will be delivered at the M.E. church in Hillsdale, Iowa. At one o’clock by Rev. Fiddler assisted by Rev. Shaw of Glenwood.
