Mrs. Jas. T. Ward died at her home in Malvern, Saturday afternoon, at 12:30 o'clock. The deceased had a severe attack of la grippe and she never recovered from it and this ailment combined with her other complications caused her death. She lacked a few days of being 44 years of age. She leaves a husband and one child, a young lady daughter, to mourn a loss that is irretrievable. Mrs. Ward was a lady of exemplary christian character and was beloved and esteemed as widely as her acquaintance extended. In church, literary and social circles she was always active and her influence was ever exerted for good. The funeral services were held on Monday morning at 10 o'clock. Rev. A.E. Slothower of the Methodist church was the officiating clergyman assisted by Dr. D.C. Franklin the presiding elder of this district. It was a peculiarly sad funeral. The mother Mrs. P.A. Birdsall of Emerson and a sister of the deceased were seriously ill and could not be present and this added to the sorrow of the bereaved relatives who were there. The body was laid to rest at the conclusion of the ceremony in the Malvern cemetery.
