Malvern Leader
Malvern, Iowa
Thurs. April 23, 1903

Joseph Jacquat, whose tragic mishap was mentioned last week, died Sunday April 19 from the effect of the injuries he received. Our readers will remember that he was run down by the evening train on the Wabash Saturday April 11. It was thought at first he would recover, but later symptoms developed resulting in his death.

He was born in France in 1827 and soon came to this country. He was married some 23 years ago to a Mrs. Kelsey who preceded him some years ago.

He had lived in and near Malvern for about 27 years. He served in the U.S. army and navy some fourteen or fifteen years. He had no children and at the time of his death no known relatives in America.

The funeral occurred Monday afternoon from the residence of Jack Shere, whose wife is a step-daughter of the deceased, and was conducted by Rev. W.H. Cable of the M.E. church.
