Malvern Leader
March 15, 1894

Someone sends the leader a copy of the Mt. Pleasant Journal containing a lengthy obituary notice of Mr. John Eschelman, who died at Corning on February 24, a few days more than 73 years of age, His death was from chronic stomach trouble and quite sudden, he being at his store on Thursday and dying on Saturday morning. The obituary notice spoke at length of the sorrows that had came to Mr. Eschelman, with some of which a few in this community are familiar. There were other trials not mentioned in the obituary with which many of our readers were acquainted that were a source of great deal of pain to him.

Mr. Eschelman was the only exclusive clothier in Malvern for a time and did a good business, removing from here to Council Bluffs and then to Corning.
