John H. Cozad died at his home in Malvern, January 7, 1921, aged 53 years, 3 months, 1 day.
He was born in Henry County, Illinois, September 6, 1862, where he resided till the age of eight, when he moved with his parents to Shenandoah, Iowa. At the age of 17, he moved to Maryville, Missouri, where he lived for a number of years. From there he moved to Tabor, Iowa, when he was lated united in marriage to Miss Sadie Mason of that place on June 14, 1887. To this union ten children were born, all of whom with the wife deeply mourn their loss.
The family consists of three brothers, Levi and Fred of Malvern and Henry Cozad of Wayne, Nebraska; three sisters, Mrs. Mary Forbs and Mrs Nora Chamberg of St. Joe, Missouri, and Mrs. Bell Riley, Porterville, California. The wife and ten children, Mrs. Ross Atkinson, Mrs. Fred Atkinson, Henry and Walter Cozad of Malvern, Mrs. Leland Bennett of Plattsmouth, Nebraska, Ernest, Gladys, Viola, Homer, and Robert who are at home.
Mr. Cozad was well known in and around Malvern and was always present when a helping was needed. People felt in him they had a real friend and he will be missed both in the home and the community.
A goodly crowd gathered in the Christian Church Monday afternoon to pay their last respects to one who has gone into a far country. Rev. Mrs. Burnett spoke words of hope and consolation to the family in their sad hour.Jehova has spoken, another life is ended, tender ties are broken and the Silent City has claimed another victim.
