GLENWOOD TRIBUNE Thursday, April 7, 1949

FINAL RITES FOR JOHN HOAGLAND.

John Freeland Hoagland, son of George and Elya Cox Hoagland, was born in Moresville, Indiana, January 10, 1869. He lost his father and mother while still a young boy and went to work for strangers to make his own way in life. He came to the Thurman vicinity when he was twenty one years old.
On March 3, 1895 he was united in marriage with Amanda Holsclaw of Thurman where they lived on a farm when they moved to Glenwood.
Mr. Hoagland has been in failing health for the past two years. He closed his journey here on earth April 1, 1949 at the age of eighty years, two months and two days.
Leaving to mourn this loss are his wife at home and many friends who have known him there through the years.
Services were held Monday, April 4, from the James-Reid Chapel with the Rev. J.W. Taenzler officiating.
Music was furnished by Miss Ruth Miller, Mrs. Mildred Folkerts, Gerrald Baker and Jack Reid with Mrs. Dorsey Roll, accompanist.
Casket bearers were Fred Delevan, R.M. Stivers, Jess Morgan, Josh Hayter, Lester Anthony and T.W. White.
Flower ladies were Miss Gladys Scott and Mrs. Dorsey roll.
Interment was in the Glenwood cemetery
