RAINEY, KESTERSON

Services were Tuesday in Glenwood for Nora Minerva Rainey, 85, of Glenwood. She died Sunday at a Council Bluffs hospital.

Miss Rainey was born on Oct. 30, 1897 on the family farm in Fremont County near Riverton, one of seven children born to Oliver and Catherine Moyle Rainey. She attended rural schools in Fremont County and joined the Presbyterian Church.

Miss Rainey never married, but devoted her life to helping others. She worked as a housekeeper in several Sidney homes before moving to Glenwood to care for her parents when they moved here. She was an attendant and foster grandparent at the Glenwood State Hospital-School, and also worked for several years baking pies in the Vi Allen restaurant.

Survivors include a sister, Grace Kesterson of Shenandoah; a sister-in-law, Maggie Rainey of Hamburg; nine nieces and 12 nephews and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, two brothers and one nephew.

Services were at Raynor Funeral Home with the Rev. Greg Neer officiating. Casket bearers were Willard Hindman, David Williams, Ed Merritt, Noah Hunt, Hugh Horsman and Donald Weak. Interment was at Glenwood Cemetery.
