ADAM ABBOTT, 50, FATHER OF NINETEEN CHILDREN IS DEAD

Adam Abbott, 50, father of 19 children of Pacific Junction, died at the home of a son, Jesse, Monday. He had gone to the home of his son in the morning to scoop corn. He had just scooped a load of 45 bushels from a wagon when he died suddenly of a heart attack.

Mr. Abbott was known to be an exceptionally hard working man. He reared the unusual large number of children and provided well for them. Twelve of the children were living at home at the time of his death. Seven were born by a former marriage.

Adam Jesse Abbott, son of Ralph and Fanny Abbott, was born at Imogene, Iowa, November 10, 1895 and passed away Monday, January 7, 1946, at the age of 50 years, 1 month, and 28 days.

On December 30, 1927, he was married to Bonnie C. M. Jones at Rockport, Missouri. To them twelve children were born; Douglas, Jerry, Kenneth, Donetta, John, Bonnie, Dixie, Sharon, Joe, Carman, Marjorie, and Dan.

They established their first home near Percival, Iowa and have lived in the vicinity of Glenwood for the past eight years. They have been very happy in marriage, Jesse was a good father, loved his home and worked hard to support his large family.

He is survived by his sorrowing wife, Bonnie, and her twelve children and also by Mrs. Isabel Biggart, Sioux City, Iowa, Robert Abbott, Nebraska City, Alvin Abbott, Tecumseh, Nebraska, Jesse Abbott, Bartlett, and seven other children by a former marriage.

Also by his beloved mother, Mrs. Fanny Abbott, Nebraska City, Otoe County, Nebraska, three brothers, Albert, Alvin, and Adrian of Nebraska City, and two sisters, Mrs. Pearl McKim, Nebraska City, and Mrs. Melvin Cohn of Malvern, Iowa and many relatives and a number of friends.

Funeral services were held at the James Funeral Home at 2 P.M., Wednesday, January 9, 1946. Re. David Young in charge. Burial was made in the Glenwood Cemetery, Glenwood, Mills County, Iowa.
