Carl Frederick Roenfeld was born May 10, 1836, at Panko, Schleiswig-Holstein, Germany. At the age of 22 he came to America and to Council Bluffs.
For a time he drove stage out of that city, and afterwards took up farming in Oak township. Mr. Roenfeld prospered financially during his residence in Mills county. About nine years ago he divided his land, something over 1000 acres, among his four sons, and 'arranged for the payment of money to his daughters.
Mr. Roenfeld moved to Mineola in 1907, where he had erected a new home for himself and wife, and which they were destined not to occupy long.
He was married to Magdalene Kruse in March, 1863, who preceded him in death since May 22, 1912. Six children were born of the marriage—four sons and two daughters. These all live in the vincity of Mineola and Silver city. They are, Ferdinand, Henry, William and Louis Roenfeld, Mrs. John and Mrs August Schoening. There is also a step-son, August Spetman of near Silver City,
Mr. Roenfeld died December 27, 1914, aged 78 years, 7 months, and 17 days. The funeral was held at the Lutheran church in Mineola Wednesday, December 30, conducted by Rev.
O. Sitzler. Interment was in the Mineola cemetery.
