DATED AUGUST 9, 2000:Thelma E. Delavan, 87, of Glenwood, died September 2, 2000 at Jennie Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluffs. Graveside services were held September 5, 2000 at Glenwood Cemetery with Rev. Renae Koehler officiating.
Mrs. Delavan was the daughter of James Albert and Anna (Lingscheit) Porter, born August 5, 1913 in Hutchinson County, S. D. She was married to Fred Walker Delavan on July 18, 1939 in Basin, Wyo. She was employed at Glenwood State-Hospital School for many years, retiring in 1996.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; infant twin daughters, Margaret Lucille and Marjorie Lorraine; and brothers, George D. S. Porter, Vilmer Deo Porter and Charles Joseph Porter.
Survivors include her son, James Delavan of Colorado Springs, Colo.; nieces and nephews, Sam Delavan of Glenwood, Ila Mae Fitzpatrick of Glenwood, Emza Scott of Red Oak, Ruth Garrett of Tabor, Elaine K. Porter of Washington, Alan Porter of Boise, Idaho, Dorothy Griffith of Moretown, Vt., Marlis Bufford of Englewood, Colo., Karen Kamerer of Lodi, Calif., Sydney Porter of Michigan, Phillip Delavan of Cedar Park, Texas, Mary Delavan of Clarksburg, W. Va., special friends, Richard and Terri Bailey of Council Bluffs; sister-in-laws, Inez Porter of Meridian, Idaho and Irene Porter of Woodbridge, Colo.; numerous great-nieces/nephews, relatives and a host of friends.
Memorials are suggested to the Glenwood Public Library Children’s Fund. Peterson Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
