GLENWOOD OPINION-TRIBUNE
DATED THURS., NOVEMBER 11, 1943:

A large number of former neighbors and long time friends gathered at Raynor’s chapel on Sunday afternoon to honor the memory of Mrs. John W. Wolfe, highly respected Glenwood woman who died at the family home on North Walnut street on last Thursday, following a long period of ill health. Her pastor, Rev. J. S. Reel of the Glenwood Christian church was in charge of the service and paid fitting tribune to this beloved character who endeared herself to all whom were privileged to know her. Music for the service was furnished by Miss Elizabeth Hall, who was assisted at the piano by Mrs. Bert Colwell. Flowers were cared for by Gladys Scott, Mrs. Clarence Butcher, Mrs. Dorsey Roll and Mrs. R. J. Allen. Serving as pallbearers were Bert McPherron, Ralph McPherron, Bryan Maxwell, Clyde Rhoads, Garreld Baker and Fred Baker. The local O. E. S. chapter conducted the Eastern Star memorial service. The body was laid to rest in the family lot in the Glenwood cemetery.

Ollie Ann Estes, one among the last remaining members of the pioneer Estes family, was born in Rawles Township, Mills County, Iowa, April 3rd, 1860 and it was in this county that she grew to womanhood. On February 4th, 1880 she was united in marriage to John W. Wolfe and to this happy union were born ten children: Guy Wolfe of Glenwood, Walter R. Wolfe of Linville, Iowa, Mrs. Berta Pippitt of Council Bluffs, Mrs. Jesse Ryan of Long Beach, California, Mrs. Myrtle Richmond of Arcadia, Calif., Mrs. Della Gowdy of Los Angeles, John C. Wolfe of Tujunga, Calif., Mrs. Lucille Rogers of Council Bluffs, Mrs. Beulah Wood of Des Moines and Mrs. Alice Holmes, who preceded her mother in death some eleven years ago.

Mr. and Mrs. Wolfe lived on this farm in Rawles Township until 1918 at which time they moved to Glenwood where Mr. Wolfe passed away about ten years ago. Mrs. Wolfe was a member of the Order of Eastern Star for a number of years.

Early in life she confessed her faith and was baptized, being enrolled as a member of the Pleasant Hill Christian church. She transferred her membership to the Glenwood Christian church after moving to this city. She was a loyal and faithful worker through the years and was always in her place, both in church and in the Bible School as long as her health permitted.

She had been in failing health for about four years. Her last serious illness began about two weeks ago, her passing coming at her home on November 4th at the age of 83 years, 7 months and 2 days.

Besides her immediate family she leaves to mourn her passing, one sister, Mrs. Ethel Berger of Fort Dodge, Iowa, 14 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
