DATED AUGUST 26, 1982:

Services were Saturday in Glenwood for Ira Aistrope, 89, of Glenwood. He died Wednesday in an Omaha hospital.

Aistrope was born Aug. 29, 1892 on a farm near Randolph, where he grew up and attended rural school. He was baptized and became a member of the First Christian Church at an early age, and entered the artillery division of the military service in 1918.

Aistrope married Irene Weatherhead in 1918. They had three children --- sons Stanley and Dean and Daughter Marilyn. During his early life, Ira farmed near Tabor. He later move to Glenwood where he worked as an auto mechanic and served as superintendent of the Glenwood Water Department until his retirement in 1962.

Aistrope married Mildred Bastou Long at Rock Port, Mo., and they had three sons ---Maurice, Marvin and Dale.

Survivors include his wife, Mildred; four sons, Stanley and Dean of Hamburg, Marvin of Council Bluffs, and Ira of Papillion, Neb.; one step-son, Elton J. Long of Wray, Colo.; 13 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, a daughter, Marilyn, son, Maurice, and a grandson.

Services were at Raynor Funeral Home with the Rev. Wayne Sigler officiating. Music was provided by Martha Fasnacht, organist. Casket bearers were Johnathan Long, Donald Long, Troy Long, Tom Aistrope, Wayne Jensen, George Clark and Charles Gardner. Honorary casket bearers were Marvin Plummer, Irvin Stone, Fred Crier, Edward Leutzinger, Wayne Fasnacht, Jesse Brown, Tom Keleher, Jr., George Hedding and Daniel Elizondo. The American Legion gave graveside military rites. Interment was at Glenwood Cemetery.
