MILLS COUNTY TRIBUNE
DATED JULY 16, 1914:Bertha L. Bright was born September 9, 1882, at Hastings, Iowa, and moved with her parents to Pacific Junction while very young. She graduated from the Pacific Junction High School in the class of ‘97, being the youngest graduate of that school. After graduation she took a course in the Denver Manual Training school and afterwards taught school.
In January 1900 she met and married, the following April, Charles Irving Sparks. The wedding ceremony occurred at Deadwood, South Dakota. This city was their home until 1906. They then moved to Shoshone, Wyo., and resided there until her death.
The deceased received the sacrament of baptism July 4, 1914. Many times during her last hours she expressed joy in going home to a loving Father’s House, for she had heeded the call of Him who said: “Come to me all ye who are weary and heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”
The deceased leaves to mourn her a husband, a brother James E. Bright of Des Moines, and a sister Mrs. Mary Read of Pacific Junction, and an aged step-father R. E. McDonald of Pacific Junction. Burial was in Martin’s Chapel cemetery on Saturday from the home of her sister, Mrs. Read,, conducted by Rev. E. E. Goodrich of Glenwood.
