DATED JUNE 21, 2000:

Alene J. (Stivers) Keith, 70, of Glenwood died June 16, 2000 at Methodist Hospital in Omaha, Neb. Funeral services were June 19, 2000 at First Christian Church with burial in the Glenwood Cemetery. Rev. Orville Terry officiated at the services.

Mrs. Keith was the daughter of William C. and Helen (Schneider) Stivers, born June 25, 1929 in Glenwood. She lived her entire life in Mills County with the exception of one year (1948-1949) when they farmed the family farm in Cedar Creek, Neb. She graduated from Glenwood High School. She was married to Wayne William Keith September 29, 1946 in Glenwood. She was a mother and homemaker and was very active in the First Christian Church. She was a member of the Friendship Circle, the American Legion Auxiliary for many years, sang in the choir, Mills County representative for Reach For Recovery for American Cancer Society, Ambassador of 2000 Relay for Life, Rural Improvement Club, past 4-H leader, and the Founder of Country Cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; infant brother, Glen Dale Stivers; and infant sister, Alice Mae Stivers.

Survivors include her husband; daughters, Linda and husband Neil Goos of Glenwood, Nancy and husband Vaughn Bennett of Mesa, Ariz., Vanessa and husband Terry Marshall of Glenwood, and Marcia Keith of Council Bluffs; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild; brother, Bill and wife Delores Stivers of Mesa, Ariz., sister, Mary Jurgens of Glenwood.

Memorials are suggested to the First Christian Church or the American Cancer Society. Peterson Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
