MILLS COUNTY TRIBUNE
DATED FEBRUARY 7, 1921

John Tucker was born near Columbus, O., December 17, 1846, and died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Harry Hubbell, West Coolidge St., Glenwood, February 2, 1921, at the age of 74 years, 1 month and 16 days.

He was married to Mary A. Smith October 24, 1868. To this union three children were born, Oliver E. Tucker, who died at the age of 2 1/2 years, Mrs. Harry Hubbell and Mrs. Gertrude Wright, both of Glenwood. He has three brothers, one living in Seymour, Ia; the other two he knew nothing of their location.

At one time Mr. Tucker was a member of the Baptist church but of late years has not been connected with any church.

He first came to Mills county in 1881 and about 1900 he decided to change locations and in 1915 returned to Glenwood and has made his home with Mrs. Harry Hubbell since that time.

Mr. Tucker was a blacksmith by trade, but at different times worked on the farm. He has been in poor health for the past few years and his weakened body could not withstand the last sickness and his life went out. He was kindly disposed toward those who knew him. He will be missed not only by the bereaved family but by his many friends, especially those of earlier days.

Funeral services were conducted from the residence of Harry Hubbell on Friday, February 4, by Rev. D.S. Thompson. Music was furnished by the male quartet of the Christian church--J.W. Morgan, Guy Mayberry, George Scott and O.D. Harold. Burial in Glenwood cemetery.

The pallbearers were D. Salyards, Marion Anthony, A. Mayberry, S.F. Vinton, V.D. Pace, J.T. Murphy.
