MILLS COUNTY TRIBUNE
DATED FEBRUARY 28, 1921

Mary Almeda Smith, was born near Columbus, O., March 17, 1851.

She was married to John Tucker October 29, 1868, at Blakesburg, Ia. To this union were born three children -- Mrs. Harry Hubbell and Mrs. Gertrude Wright of Glenwood, Ia., and Oliver E. Tucker, who died when two and one-half years old.

After coming to Mills county following marriage, this has been her home excepting a few years they lived in Colorado.

At one time Mrs. Tucker and her husband united with the Baptist church, but of late years she has not been connected with any church. She was a great believer in the United Bible association and gave her energies to its development.

A few years ago, in 1906, Mrs. Tucker was united in marriage to A.H. Burger and since that time made her home in West Glenwood.

She was always mindful of her children, a good neighbor, and sincere in her faith.

Mrs. Burger passed away February 21, 1921, at the age of 69 years, 11 months and 4 days.

Besides her two daughters and many neighbors, she leaves to mourn her death two brothers, Ed Smith of Weiser, Ida., and Albert Smith of Sargent, Neb.; four sisters, Mrs. Rena Perron, Sherwood, O., Mrs. Sarah E. Hackman, Kansas City, Mo., Mrs. Lucy Donahoo, Wymore, Neb., and Mrs. Julia McCormick, Burkett, Neb.

From the hearts of relatives and many friends comes the sweet strains of music -- "Friends who have loved me are slipping away. Silently onward they glide. Still are their voices as backward they stray, calling me over the tide. Narrow the waters and tranquil the shore. There my beloved abide -- Christ and the Angels and friends gone before, calling me over the tide."

Mr. and Mrs. Albert Smith of Sargent, Neb., were among those present at the funeral services from a distance.

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. D. S. Thompson Thursday, February 24, from the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Hubbell. Music was furnished by Guy Mayberry, O. D. Harold and Mesdames Marshall and Altekruse. The pall bearers were Ralph Vinton, Ronald Kier, H. H. Cheyney, C. P. Hamilton, Herb Evans and Alfred Standiford. The remains were laid to rest in the Glenwood cemetery.

----- Card of Thanks ---------

We are truly grateful to the neighbors and friends for their help and sympathy and floral offerings during our bereavement in the death of our mother, Mrs. A.H. Burger .--Mrs. Harry Hubbell, Mrs. Gertrude Wright.
