DATED THURSDAY, DEC. 16, 1982Services were Tuesday in Glenwood for Emmet Wade Delavan, 80, of Glenwood. He died Sunday at a Council Bluffs hospital.
Delavan was born on Nov. 8, 1902 in Glenwood and lived in Mills County his entire life. He married Edith Newman on Dec. 24, 1921. Delavan worked many years for Mills County as a maintainer operator, and after his retirement, owned and operated the Delavan Skylark service station north of town for 20 years. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Glenwood.
Survivors include his wife, Edith; two daughters, Emza Scott of Stillwater, Okla. and Ila Mae Fitzpatrick of Glenwood; one son, Samuel Wade Delvan of Glenwood; one sister, Lena Garrett of Glenwood; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers.
Services were at Peterson Mortuary with the Rev. Wayne Sigler officiating. Music was provided by Ardis Dusenberry, organist. Casket bearers were Dick LaRue, Ralph Fuoss, Dick DeLashmutt, Owen Jens, Jim Picker and Mike Lee. Honorary casket bearers were Bill Mullica, Duane Stone, Gerald Fickel, Johnnie Helms, Art Thieschafer and Evan Miller. Interment was at Glenwood Cemetery.
