APRIL 17, 1985Services will be today at 2 p.m. at Raynor Fuenral Home Chapel for Abigail E. "Abbie" Case, 77, of Glenwood. She died early Monday at Glen Haven Home following a period of failing health.
Abbie was born in Blaine County, Neb. on May 7, 1907, and moved to Folsom as a young girl. She graduated from Pacific Junction High School in 1925 and went on to Normal School in Red Oak. She taught for one year (1926-27) in the Folsom area at Gowan No. 3 school. In 1933 she joined her father, L. C. Case, in Glenwood operating the Standard Oil Station at 102 N. Walnut. After her father's death in 1937 she continued to operate the station singlehandedly until February, 1983. The station became a landmark for the community due to her efforts at helping people over the years.
Survivors include two nephews, Luke of Piedmont, Calif. and Samuel of Glenwood.
The Rev. Victor Engelman will officiate the services and interment will be at the Glenwood Cemtery. Music will be provided by Joan Dashner. Casket bearers are Francis Dashner, Claude Wolfe, Robert Bailor, Herman Ossian, Earl Duffy and H. C. Altekruse. Honorary bearers are Nathan Hazen, Jack Young, Mike Plummer and Alfred Stille. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be given to the Glenwood Public Library Fund or the American Cancer Society.
