DATED OCT. 4, 1962Kathryn Diana, daughter of J. Shanklin and Harriet Hensy Moore, was born in Wall Lake, Iowa, on Jan. 19, 1879, and died in Glenwood Sept. 24, 1962, at the age of 83 years, eight months and five days.
At the age of seven years she moved with her family to Silver City where she grew to womanhood.
On Feb. 3, 1898, she was married to Harrison H. Howser, who preceded her in death in December, 1933. She was a member of a family of nine children all of whom have preceded her in death with the exception of two brothers.
She was a lifetime member of the Silver City Methodist Church and a charter member and past president of the WSCS. On Nov. 17, 1961, she was honored with a WSCS special membership and was awarded a certificate and gold pin. She was a charter member of the Silver City Woman’s club and in 1956 was chosen as an honorary member and given a lifetime membership. She was also a member of the Eastern Star and a past worthy matron, serving in 1945.
For a number of years she lived as a companion in the homes of the late C. H. Kruse, Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Skerritt, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Anderson, and her brother, John Moore. Two years ago she moved to Glenwood and made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Lois Kruse, until the time of her passing.
She is survived by: two daughters, Mrs. Adah Cross of Indianapolis, Ind., and Mrs. Lola Kruse of Glenwood; three grandsons, Myron Kruse of Corning, Russell Kruse, serving with the Air Force at Fort Meade, Md., and Kenneth Cross of Indianapolis, Ind.; two great-granddaughters, Gail and Vicki Kruse of Corning; and two brothers, Frank of Pomona and George of Stockton, Calif.
Funeral services were held from the Silver City Methodist church Thursday, Sept. 27, conducted by the Rev. F. G. Barnes and the Rev. E. LeRoy Pullman, both of Silver City.
Music was provided by Mrs. Stanley Rowe and Mrs. Herman Vohs, accompanied on the organ by the Rev. C. F. Waterman, all of Glenwood.
The Eastern Star funeral service was conducted by members of the Silver City chapter of Eastern Star. Burial was made in the Silver City cemetery.
