Charles Franklin Gaylord, son of Moses W. and Philinda E. Gaylord, passed away at his residence in south Tabor August 19, at the advanced age of 80 years, 6 months and 26 days.
Mr. Gaylord was born of Pioneer parents in the Dawsonburg community, a few miles south of Tabor, were he attended school until he grew to manhood. he was baptized into the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints when a young man.
Mr. Gaylord became interested in farming and spent two years in this occupation at Verden, Nebraska, where he met and married the lady of his choice in 1885 and had he lived until February 11, they would have been married 60 years.
They moved back to this community and soon bought a farm 4 1/2 miles southwest of Tabor where they made their home until 1914, when they moved into town.
Before moving from the country, the Gaylord home was open to many youths, who were given lodging and educational advantages. “Frank” as he was known to his many friends, was an exemplary husband and an affectionate father. He had a fine sense of humor and made friends readily.
He leaves to mourn his death his wife; two daughters, Inez Rhode of Tabor, and Helen Carl of Mt. Vernon, Iowa; and one granddaughter, Mildred Lee Rhode; also a number of brothers, nephews, nieces, cousins and a host of friends.
