DATED MARY 28, 1980:

Services were Thursday at St. John Lutheran Church in Mineola for Eldon A. Deitchler, 58. He died May 20 in a Council Bluffs hospital.

Born Jan. 15, 1922 on a farm near Mineola, he attended school in Mineola. On May 2, 1943, he was married to Elaine Rubert in Rockport, Mo. On July 12 of the same year he entered the Army Air Force as an air cadet, became a second lieutenant and served as a bombadier. He was discharged in October of 1945 and returned to farming.

“Red” was a member of the Mineola American Legion Post and St. John Lutheran Church in Mineola where he was baptized and confirmed.

Survivors include his wife Elaine of Silver City; two sons, Robert E. and Philip A., both of Silver City; one daughter, Vicki Ann Newell of Malvern; a sister, Dorothy Roenfeldt of Glenwood; and a brother Donald of Council Bluffs. He also leaves three grandchildren.

The Rev. L. R. Lechner officiated at the services. Music was provided by Mr. and Mrs. Fred Biermann and Mrs. James McCollester. Ushers were Robert Kruse and Wilbert Kruse. Mrs. Myron Roenfeld and Mrs. Ralph Stewart were in charge of the registry book.

Casket bearers were Calvin Deitchler, Lloyd Deitchler, Virgil Deitchler, Herman Kahl, George Miller and Marlin Sell.

Military graveside rites were conducted by the Mineola American Legion. Interment was at the Mineola Cemetery.

Raynor, Lett and Kent Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
