Services were May 5 at Raynor, Lett & Kent Funeral Home for Paul Meredith Criswell, 65, a Glenwood State Hospital School personnel officer who died May 2 in Council Bluffs.

The Rev. Harvey G. Quandt officiated at the funeral. Mrs. Donald Bruce and organist Mrs. Dean Dusenberry provided music.

Casket bearers were Donald Bruce, D. D. Davis, Larry Kruse, Bill Campbell, Max Farrell , and Doug Settles.

Masonic graveside rites by Glenwood Lodge No. 58, A. F. & A. M. preceded burial in Malvern Cemetery.

Mr. Criswell, who was born Jan. 26, 1910 in Glenwood, was the son of Stephen M. and Daisy Wolfe Criswell.

After graduating from Glenwood High School in 1927, he entered the University of Iowa. He was graduated from the College of Business there in 1932.

During World War II, he served three years with the U. S. Army Air Corps in the European Theatre.

He married Connie Eckles July 6, 1948. The couple later had one son.

After the war, Mr. Criswell worked first for the Opinion-Tribune and later in the state auditor’s office from 1948 to 1950.

He started as business manager at the State School in 1950 and later was transferred tot he Personnel Department.

Survivors include his widow; one son, Paul Stephen, Glenwood; one step-son, Kenneth Eckles, Sioux City; three step-daughters , Berneida Teller, Houston, Tex.; Judy Russell, Pasadena, Tex.; and Karen Eckles, Cedar Rapids; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents and by a step-grandson, Ronnie Alexander.
