GLENWOOD OPINION-TRIBUNE
DATED MAY 28, 1980:

Services were Friday for Virginia May Howrey, 58, Glenwood, who died May 20 in an Omaha hospital.

Born June 17, 1923 in Shenandoah, Iowa, she graduated from Shenandoah High School in 1941 and later became a licensed practical nurse at the Hand Hospital Nurses Training School in Shenandoah. A member of the Hillsdale United Methodist Church, she worked at the Hand Hospital, the Glenwood State Hospital-School and several area nursing homes. On January 7, 1951 she was married to Glen Howrey in Essex, Iowa.

Survivors include her husband, Glen; four children, Ronnie Kingsolver of Shenandoah, Glenda Bowser of Omaha, Stanley Howrey of Glenwood and Steven Howrey of Glenwood; one brother, Jack Ladds of Universal City, Texas; and three grandchildren.

The Rev. Harvey Quandt conducted services at the Peterson Mortuary. Organist Mrs. Dean Dusenberry and soloist Neil McPherron performed “The Old Rugged Cross” and “Sunrise Tomorrow.”

Casket bearers were Theron Michelson, Ralph Tackett, Dale Alexander, Norman Sinner, Ronald Hurst and Sterling Carlson.

Interment was at the Randolph Cemetery in Randolph.
