Ruth E. Hutchison, 86, of Sidney died Jan. 6 at the Sidney Ambassador Care Center in Sidney following an extended illness.

She was born Feb. 5, 1918 , in Pacific Junction to Charlie and Clara Mae (Howard) Hunter. On March 10, 1936, she married Marshall Woodrow Hutchison in Rock Port, Mo. She and her husband, Hutch, owned and operated Hutch's Tavern in Council Bluffs for several years.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Hutch; three sons, Michael, Richard and Roger Hutchison; two sisters, Geneva Welty and Opal Schmidt; three brothers, Guy, Earl and Ralph Hunter. She is survived by a daughter, Betty Gappa and husband, Darwin, of Sidney; grandson Brian Whipple and wife, Angela, of Sidney; great-granddaughter, Brianne Whipple; sister, Lorna (Tootsie) McNelley, of Reno, Nev.; nieces and nephews and many other relatives.

Graveside services for the interment of ashes will be Monday at 2:30 p.m. at the Sidney Cemetery with the Rev. Faye Fedlam officiating. Thre will be no viewing or visitation and memorials are suggested to the Sidney Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad. The Crawford-Marshall Funeral Chapel in Sidney is in charge of arrangements.
