COUNCIL BLUFFS, IOWA DAILY NONPARIEL
DATED DECEMBER 25, 2005:

Everett Knop, 96, of Omaha, NE, formerly of Malvern, Iowa, passed away December 23, 2005, at Brighton Gardens Nursing Home.

Survivors include daughter, Nancy Mahler and husband Fred of Omaha; son Donald Knop and wife Carol of Lincoln, NE; step daughter Sharon Tullis and husband David of Temple, TX; brother, Lester Knop and wife Blanche of Lake Placid, FL; sisters, Della Smardo and husband Fred of Leawood, KS, Darlene Walker of Launa Beach, CA, Viola Green of Council Bluffs, Iowa and Lola Jones of Malvern.

Visitation will be Tuesday, December 27 at Mansfield-Hertz Funeral Home in Malvern with family present to receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 28 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, rural Hastings, Iowa with burial in the East Liberty Cemetery near Malvern.

The Everett Knop Memorial Fund has been established.

NOT INCLUDED IN OBITUARY:

Everett Anton Knop was born to Herman and Alma (Leu) Knop on July 24, 1909. On December 27, 1933 he married Gertrude Marie Seeger. (She was called “Marie” by family and friends.) Two children were born to this union: Nancy and Donald.

Marie died on March 14, 1964. On August 7, 1965 Everett married Vivian Mohar, daughter of Warren Lanzo and Clara (Rich) Goodier. Everett and Vivian retired from farming in 1975. They spent their winters in McAllen, Texas.

In his earlier years, Everett and his brothers Louis, Lester and Fritz started their own Knop Brothers Orchestra. They played for many occasions throughout southwest Iowa.
